Saving the World in Style

Well, it was a very long night. We managed to maintain power until about 4:30 this morning, after a few brownouts and flickers. Around that time, we also noted some water seeping in around our back doors, which were constantly buffeted by the wind and rain, as well as a large window in our bedroom. The solar screens on the back of the house -- apparently mounted poorly by the previous owner -- will have to be replaced. After about eight hours, the power has finally come back up.

If this is all the damage we find over the next few days, we can count ourselves very lucky.

We're waiting, holding our breaths, to find out how Galveston fared.
