Old Home Week...
Apr. 19th, 2010 06:20 pmSo I've been taking a trip down memory lane this afternoon, digging through the various Trek archives and unearthing some familiar and not-so-familiar Janeway/Chakotay stories. I'd forgotten how much of a fangirl I really was... and how young we all were! Of course, reading all of this also makes me miss the potential Voyager had. I've also been mourning the departure of Jeri Taylor, as the whole J/C thing just kinda...died...without her around. And we won't mention Chakotay/Seven. Nope. Didn't happen.
Part of me misses, too, the camaraderie of the J/C fandom at the time -- much the way I find I miss the insanity of S/J, M/S, A/R, and the "tiny" fandoms all my other OTPs. The squeeing kept us young and energized; gave us something to look forward to from week to week, even when things were dragging ass in the real world. It inspired fic and vids and extended giggling. It forged friendships, sometimes with people we've never even met face-to-face.
Some of you are still around, still listen to me ramble on. Our conversations now touch lightly on our old loves, as we kindle new ones, and dig deeper into the reality of our world. For that friendship, I am extremely grateful. I thank each of you for sticking with me thus far.
If only our bonds with the muses were as resilient!
