Now that I'm sitting still for a little while, I'm definitely elbow deep in creating our Hawkeye and Black Widow costumes for this year. Since I'm trying to work my butt off -- literally, to lose about 6" -- I'm trying to wait till the last to complete the lower half of my Widow bodysuit. That means I'm focusing a lot of attention on props and Hawkeye at the moment.
A while back, I started collecting links and images to the various things I would need to buy for the costumes. The end result are two Pinterest boards -- one for Clint, and one for Natasha. I've been using these as I've been buying up a lot of things to get everything modified, prepped, and completed. VISA really likes me right now...
( And this is why (snipped for epic listing)... )
So far, the only thing I've really gotten done is the modification to Hawkeye's vest. I needed to remove the velcro strips and trim the collar. Easy enough, and I think I did a decent enough job.
...and I've at least started the muslin of the bodysuit bodice. Putting the zipper in the first time proved to be a bust. I've since decided that the seams there won't stretch anyway, due to the zipper tape, so I'll interface the edges to stabilize them, and try again. I also won't be using an invisible zipper like the pattern calls for, so that will help, too.
Everything else I need is currently sitting at my mother's in Atlanta. I'm hoping everything will get there by the end of next week so I can get it all shipped to Houston and be able to work on a few things while we're home for Comicpalooza. This is partially because it was too expensive to have stuff shipped to Canuckistan; partially because some items could not be shipped here (like the airsoft pistols). And hey, why not make use of my Amazon Prime where I could, too? =D
Needless to say, I've been ODing on The Avengers, and soooo ready for these to be done. I want to be take my time and do this right, but OMGsoimpatient!
Speaking of impatient... Really, really impatient to get this extra 6" off my hips, and really, really frustrated that fatigue keeps bugging me, and keeping me from hitting the gym more often. Trying to do better about what I'm eating, and using my little FitBit to try and keep tabs on things. Easier to eat healthy at home than it is here, though. Meh. Ten pounds. I can do this.
For now, off to finish watching The Avengers again, and check in on my Thursday night RPG. Auf wiedersehen!
