andverygingerBelieve it or not, there are Navy and Marine Corps assets in middle Tennessee, the major one being Naval Support Activity (NSA) at Millington (formerly known as BUPERS). The base was evacuated on 1 May, and operations have slowly been returning to normal since 3 May. As of yesterday, some personnel were returning with the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS) on site to offer immediate financial assistance.
NSA Millington isn't the only asset, but likely has the widest ranging effect, as all major personnel transactions -- re-enlistments, promotions, etc. -- are conducted there. Another group close to my heart is the NROTC unit at Vanderbilt University, whose personnel are likely caught right in the middle, too.
If you would like to assist financially, please consider donations to the NMCRS. Checks submitted to the Arlington, VA offices can be marked specifically for flood assistance, while credit card donations (for now) appear to be going to the general fund.
