Given the interest in the comments for my previous post, I've put together a few Castle fic reccs after my wade into the cesspool ff.net. I may be cutting them too much slack, considering their environment, but you can be the judge:

"There's a Truth in Your Eyes," by Zubeneschamali. A tag for the 2nd season ep, "Sucker Punch." There was a lot unsaid that passed between Beckett and Castle in those final moments, and this tag does a pretty good job addressing them. As far as grammar and diction goes, the dialogue is a little stilted, but not bad over all.

"Star Struck," by Etana1. Another post-episode tag, this one for 2x12, "A Rose for Everafter." "[W]hy [do] two people," the author asks, "who are so clearly attracted to each other both seem reluctant to make the first move?" She uses this tag to explore that question a bit. And, while she says she hasn't done a lot of fic writing, I really hope she sticks with it -- and with the Castle fandom. I could actually visualize this one; the dialogue is almost spot-on, and the descriptions are good enough to give your imagination license to wander, while still painting a picture. A nice follow-up to an ep that had me, as a 'shipper, seeing all kinds of possibilities.

"A New Year," (WiP) by susanatc. Grammatically speaking, this one can be a little rough -- there's a little too much third-person commentary here and there, where it might be better to "show, rather than tell." The story itself has proven to be decent fluff so far. The author doesn't rush the relationship, and puts Beckett in a frame of reference that I (as a fellow control freak) can understand. Dialogue is okay -- not great, but not too stilted.

ETA: "Every Story is a Love Story," (WiP) by IMW. I was of mixed opinions about posting this one as a recc. To start, I really like the setup: Castle and Beckett, married, and getting settled into their new family life with Alexis. There's not a lot of explanation, things just simply are, and I find that very refreshing -- kinda like a lot of the Adama/Roslin stuff on BSG. The author has combined a decent casefile into the story, and I've enjoyed following the mystery thus far. Where I have my hesitation is the amount of angst experienced by a few of the characters. Castle is a show with serious undertones, but well-balanced between the angst, the fluff, and the sick, twisted cop-humor. This story is a bit darker than your average ep, and so I'm not quite sure what to think of it. Grammatically, it's fairly well done, and I can't quibble much over the diction. The dialogue, in keeping with the angstiness, is a little soap opera-esque, but not bad. A decent read so far...and I'm really curious to find out who the perp really is.

"Grandpa Castle," by Ashzidi. Focuses on Alexis and Castle, so not a 'ship fic, but worth the read. It's one of those off-kilter moments, played up for comedy, that I can see being incorporated into the show (and kinda was, during S1). I giggled out loud with this one.

For now, that's all I have. I've read a few more, but I need to filter back through them to find the wheat among the chaff. =)
