One of the worst things that can possibly happen to a college student during winter break? He or she can get sick. Very sick. As in, can't smell, can't swallow, pressure on the ears is enough to make the head explode-sick. And such a fate has befallen me, during my last week of freedom before plunging back into the grind.

And I have 11 chapters of Winston Churchill to read.

::sigh::

The New Year has otherwise been off to a good start. Not only did we get the sofa and chair ordered, but we also managed to get two new bookcases the other day. At the moment, they're still sitting in the living room from where they were unloaded from the Jeep... but I hold hope that, someday, hopefully before more friends show up on my doorstep, the bookshelves will be in place and full of books, pictures, and really cool Italian paperweights. I've also had the capability to shop a bit -- mainly finishing up some late Christmas presents and some jeans for myself. This makes me happy. This means that we're not flat broke. I like this feeling. I wish I could bottle it for use on the months where things are a tad tighter. =)

Still pondering what to do with the precious Best Buy gift card that I got from my sis-in-law. I'm so very tempted to buy the first season of CSI on DVD... or the third season of SG1... or the first season of Forever Knight -- all of which would likely feed my muses very well. But the trick is that the card doesn't completely cover the cost of any of these box sets, and if I want one, I want the rest, too -- i.e. season two CSI, season four SG1. By default that leaves the lonely FK season one, but... Okay, the effects were cheesy, and I liked Captain Cohen better than Stonetree. ;)

. . .

Going to be a quiet afternoon here, I think. My husband has gone south for a LOTR tournament (or two), and so I'm stuck here, drinking down some hot tea, and hoping that I can get to feeling better before next week. After the next glass of orange juice, I'll be out, thus requiring a trip to the grocery store. I may simply try to make do without until DH gets home. Mom has told me to also gargle with some warm salt water to help my throat a bit. Not really looking forward to that but I'll try anything at this point. =\

Maybe, if I feel up to it, I'll log into Galaxies and work on earning that 300k of pistol weapons experience I need for the next level of "Dirty Fighting" on the Smuggler tree. ::sigh:: It seems I can never choose the easy route...
