Actually, I'm not sure when I last did this one. I haven't done it very often, so I figured: Why not?
1. Grab the book nearest you. Right now.
2. Turn to page 56.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post that sentence along with these instructions in your LiveJournal.
5. Don't dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.
I have two that are equidistant, on either side of the keyboard:
"They took off their white slippers and started down the alley."
(A Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys Supermystery: Secrets of the Nile, by Carolyn Keene)
"A man in a suit -- maybe a senator, maybe a legislative aide -- walked up, reading some papers."
(Hardy Boys Casefiles, #38: Diplomatic Deceit, by Franklin W. Dixon)
I know. Very deep. Can you tell I've been writing fic? =)
