There are several folks on my f-list with birthdays the past few days, so...Happy birthday, folks! Hope you all had a fantastic day. =)

And for the Americans out there, Happy 4th of July. It's a day of celebration as well as great importance. So important that Thomas Jefferson never celebrated his birthday, but celebrated this day -- our independence -- until the very day he died in 1826. Take a moment to read what he wrote, the basis for every firecracker you've seen (and heard) today: The Declaration of Independence.

You may also want to take a peek at his "Summary View of the Rights of British America."

Whatever other issues the man may have had, he was definitely one hell of a writer.
