Oct. 31st, 2004 10:41 pmHappy Halloween, all... for the next hour-and-fifteen, at least. =)
Spent my day hanging out, killing Stormtroopers on Galaxies, and then heading out with a friend to see "The Grudge."
Uhm, yeah... If given the chance, not sure I'd do that one again. Major creep-fest, folks. Sarah Michelle Gellar is pretty good, though I have to say the ghosties are better, and the images the director was able to grab -- amazing. Stunning. And *incredibly* creepy. I had seen a movie a few years ago, "Kaidan" or "Kwaidan" (depending on who you ask), directed by Masaki Kobayashi. I saw a bit of who I would call the "Ice Queen" from one of the stories in the images the Takashi Shimizu (the director of "The Grudge") used to depict the mother "ghost" and, like most of the stories in "Kwaidan", I really despised the ending -- mainly because there wasn't much of one. Overall, though, a good ghost story and great for Halloween. The only nit-pick I have is that I might have preferred to see the original Japanese version with subtitles -- SMG's American character here seems somewhat out of place.
Needless to say that, after seeing this, I'm not going to bed until DH is ready for bed. And I *might* be leaving a light on tonight. ::grins::
And, speaking of off to bed... So I go.
