The first sunny, warm day in the District, and I promptly rush out and get sunburned.
Okay, so, it wasn't on purpose, but my fair Irish skin definitely did not like the several hours we spent on the Mall today. Dear Husband and I met up with some friends at Air & Space, then commenced to enjoy the Smithsonian Kite Festival. Mostly, this consisted of several "competition" fields with these huuuge nylon kites, and then several smaller areas left open for the common folk to try their luck. Unfortunately, the wind wasn't quite cooperating on that end of the Mall, and most of us -- "professionals" included -- didn't have much luck getting our kites up into the air. So, we embarked on plan B: A frisbee and a field just near the Washington Monument.
After a few hours of playing frisbee, we headed over to Pentagon City. Had lunch there, and then wandered the "Fashion Centre" randomly for about an hour. I don't know why I even bother to go there; I can't afford half the stuff in there. Sure, it has the normal stuff like Express and The Limited, which I can afford, but can rarely find anything in, but then you have stores like Bebe, Kenneth Cole, etc. Of course, I guess that's why it's the "Fashion Centre" and not just "Pentagon City Mall." ::rolls eyes::
Anyway, while we were there, I started turning decidedly pink across the bridge of my nose, and down my arms. I have quite the "Farmer's Sunburn" at the moment, my arms pink from the short-sleeves down. My sunburned face isn't bothering me too terribly much, but the arms are a little annoying. I really need to take a shower and try and get the heat out, but I just can't bring myself to do it. I get the feeling I'll be hitting the moisturizer and the aloe pretty hard tonight and for the next few days.
Came home just before 7, and crashed for a nap somewhere around 7:30. My husband woke me up around 9:15, and I've been struggling to get it together since then. Between the sunburn and the residual effects of karate class on Friday, I'm a pretty miserable individual at the moment. Two Aleve seems to have helped the hips and the knees, but the sunburn is still a little bothersome. Problem is that I still have work to do for Contemporary (Contemporary International Politics), as well as a paper proposal and annotated bibliography. ::sighs:: Why on earth I decided to go back to undergrad, I have no idea. I guess I must be a glutton for punishment.

::sighs::
Nevermind. ;)
