DH and I have taken to saying that if you wait for the weather to accommodate you, you'll never do anything. So, with a gray sky, looming rain clouds, and insanely high humidity, I set out on Sunday to jumpstart my training again. I walked the neighborhood twice; ran the last 1/4 mile or so. For the first time in a very long time, the run felt good -- I just concentrated on breathing and the music piping through the headphones and cruised that last quarter mile.

On Monday, with another gloomy sky, I drove down to the nearby pond, where there is a 2.6 mi walking trail. I'd hoped to recapture some of that great feeling from Sunday, but it just wasn't happening. I managed about a mile run, off and on, and then a good, steady clip for the remainder. It really was nice to get off the asphalt and into the woods. I'm hoping I can repeat the same later this week.

Tuesday has been a day of rest... sort of. I spent all day running errands and collecting supplies and tools to help me finish up the props for D*C: heat gun, multi-tool, craft foam, rubber cement, and a few other things. I've made some good progress on Valkyrie's armor; I'm waiting for DH to get back before I start tackling Hawkeye's arrows.

So far, nothing accomplished today, other than breakfast, the dishes, and buying some new music (Jacob's Trouble, if anyone is interested =) ). Headed in a few minutes to trace out a pattern for my "Natasha civvies" -- red, orange, and brown tank tops -- for casual wear around the con. If anyone notices, awesome; if not, I'm not losing any sleep over it. I figure I'll try and tackle that for a bit before moving back over to work on the forearm portion of Val's half-gauntlet. With the weather, I should be painting. Unfortunately, I've not gotten to the point where I can yet. Still have to finish shaping and sealing the foam before I can jump ahead to painting. =\

Goals for this week:

  • More H2O. Raised as a Georgia girl, I suck at this. If only my sweet tea didn't have so many calories!

  • Activity for at least 5 days. One of the biggest problems I have is that I'm a gamer, a reader, an introvert. I'm perfectly happy plopping down in front of this PC for hours on end. I've gotta fight that and get moving if I ever hope to make positive change for my health and for my weight.

  • Use the FitBit. I recently went on a cruise and forgot the charger for my FitBit One. As a result, I fell off the wagon, tracking my food and activity. She's all charged up now, and ready to go. Time to start tracking again!

  • Moar props! I've got about two months to finish before DragonCon, so it's time to step up the pace. No need to go into sweatshop mode just yet, but I need to stay focussed and keep organized. I made lists for a reason... just need to stick to them and get them done. Chief among them this week -- Val's half-gauntlet and shoulder discs, as well as Hawkeye's shooting glove.

  • Fic. So I finally finished the annotated outline for my Clint/Tasha fic during the cruise. Now that I have it mapped out, I need to at least look at it, and start typing up full scenes from the snippets, dialogue, and other notes. I apparently find it hard to write, however, while in costuming mode. I guess the two sides of my brain just don't like firing off at the same time. =)

  • Sewing. Black Widow bodysuit. Valkyrie bodysuit. Tank tops. Val's suit will go together fairly quickly, as I can use the serger; BW, not so much, since there's a lot more detail and several seams that I can't use the serger on. I'll also have to made some modifications on the fly, as the leggings currently make me look like Steve Urkel! The tanks will be easy, once I get the pattern drafted, and probably take a day to put together. The fabric for BW and Valkyrie will be here by Friday, which means I can kick off next week getting down to it.
